Configuring M$ MN-510 with dual boot RedHat Fedora Core 1
While I am not a total newbie, I'll admit that I have miles to go before I sleep. So after staying up for nights on end, here is what I am trying to accomplish:
I have a Microsoft MN-510 adapter that is connected to a dual boot (Fedora Core 1/WinSE) computer on a (4 computers) Microsoft network (Microsoft MN-700 router, Westell 2200 modem). I followed the instructions from another post on how to connect the device so that I can access the Internet. I did as follows on the dual boot pc:
1. Under Network Configuration, selected eth0 and clicked edit.
2. Selected "Auto obtain IP address..." and pick "DHCP"
3. "Automatically obtain DNS info...."
4. Eth0 selected and activated
Then upon checking the internet connectivity, there is none. Also, the adapter is not recognized as a "network device."
I imagine there is much more to this than meets the eye. Having been through a number of different linux installations (Ubuntu, Knoppix, and Mandrake), I have met with difficulty installing the adapter every time. I have read over and over that this configuration with the MN-510 is hard (some say even impossible) but I have read that it works with considerable effort.
Please help me get started. In this regard I am a total newbie. Point me in the right direction be it with ndiswrapper, modprobe, or whatever, with specific instructions as to what I should do.
