Can't iniciate Windows XP through boot screen

Hi
I installed Fedora Core 2 on my pc which already had Windows XP. When I choose Windows XP in the boot screen it appears a message something like this: "Unable to read disk" . This is the ideia..

I think that the option Windows XP is not weel assigned to the correct partition.

Since I am quite new working with Linux, I would like to know how can I change the boot. I heard that though the console that it is possible but I have no ideia what is the directory.

Thaks, and sorry for my English.. It is not my best language...

if u r using grub
edit /etc/grub.conf

if u using lilo
edit /etc/lilo.conf
then run 'lilo' to reinstll on ur boot loader
grub does not require reinstallation

I edited grub.conf
The file is like this:

# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You do not have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /, eg.
# root (hd0,3)
# kernel /boot/vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/hda4
# initrd /boot/initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/hda
default=1
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd0,3)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
password --md5 $1$4BtodtV7$hYK5FTqwSJtMnFcajZBPq1
title Linux Fedora Core 2
root (hd0,3)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.5-1.358 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.5-1.358.img
title Windows XP
rootnoverify (hd0,4)
chainloader +1

what line must I edit? Is it the line before the last one? sould I change the number 4?
another question: how can I obtain a list of the partitions I have in my disk through linux?

regards

you obtain a list of the partitions with:

fdisk -l

compare that to the grub.conf file - and note that grub counts partitions starting from 0 rather than from 1

bash: fdisk: command not found

fdisk ma y only be in roots path so - get root and try again...

to find out where it is:

which fdisk - will print the full path to it

you can also use

cfdisk

also as root - it has a nicer interface but is not so good to get output which you can just copy&paste to post it here
