which SRPMs to recompile to optimize?

I just got through optimizing my kernel for a p4 ..... and then i remembered i could rebuild alot srpms with the --target i686 option instead of the i386 default ....

but there are alot of srpms so i cant do the whole distro ( I dont think at least .... ) so which SRPMs are the ones that would give me a performance boost if i recompiled them?

Well, If you do a program, and miss some of its librarys or dependencies, then it wont really be optomized...

If you start with X, but don't cath the 50 or 60 odd packages and components that it really uses, it won't really be optomized...

Basically, its do the whole thing or forget it.

It's not worth it. There won't be a noticable performance gain. A few crucial packages are built for i686 already. And all the i386 packages are optimized for Pentium 4 (-m32 -march=i386 -mtune=pentium4).
