What's up with the RedHat time server?

I have my clock set up to sync with the Red Hat time server.

About a couple of weeks ago (I think) my system started to choke on the "attempting to sync with time server" phase of start-up.

It happens with any of the three listed Red Hat time servers.

Has something happened to the Red Hat time servers or is it my system that is at fault?

Can I configure my system to sync with another time server?

Thanks in advance...

Mark

You should be able to set it to a different server. Take a look the list of public servers at www.ntp.org . Be sure to pick a secondary server, and read the description. Some servers request that you send them an e-mail that you will be using it, others are pretty much anybody-allowed.

To set it, run system-config-time , and enter a server.

Thanks Ranger,

I found a convenient time server from the list (secondary). I then spent a *very* long time trying to figure out what configuration file held the details of the drop-down list of servers available before - er... ahem... I realised that you could just type it in the drop-down box...

Doh!

Anyway, now that I have done that the clock syncs just fine at boot-up.

Thanks again.

Mark
