var partition


O.K. Totally noob question. My var partition got filled up. Is it safe just to delete everything inside, or is there some kind of utility that can delet stuff safely?

No you can not just delete everything. I would suspect your log files are getting out of hand but it could be due to other applications.

logrotate is the application that handles log files and it usually runs via a cron script.

Take a look and see what logs are big.
