Ut2004 and other 3d things look a mess

The other day I cahnged the screen resolution in the ut2004 settings and woop! everything starts flickering and looks a mess, I mean not just a mess, this really looks like shit, everything zooms around on the screen for no apparent reason. I tried changing back (it was hard since the menus seemed to have lives of their own) but it didnt help. Now even some 3d screensavers look like that and behave the same. Why on earth!?
