Username & Password Sync Fedora Directory and Microsoft Active Directory

Hey guys,

I am new to the forum. I have a question I hope someone can answer.

QUESTION: What program or method is there to sync username and password to both Microsoft Active Directory and Fedora Directory System so both AD can mirror one another

Now, here is some common answers to this question (I have done some research into this briefly) that I keep hearing...

- Why are we doing this
- They both will do the job, just choose one
- That is too much work to maintain

I know what you are thinking, but the powers that are above me want this specific type of set-up. Any guidance, websites, or advice to try and makethis work.

Thanks for the help.

I haven't setup anything specifically to sync AD and Fedora Directory. But I've worked with both AD and OpenLDAP (even though it's not FD) it should be close.

My thought is you can script with perl/ruby/python/ or whatever the password out/in from FD or AD. I'm not sure how AD hashes the password? Anyway once you have a users password from one you should be able to script it into the other.

In theory anyway. I haven't come across any software that will do this automagically.

OK.

I found a website that gives setup instructions. I followed it and now I am running into errors.

"91 - Can't connect to LDAP server"
"32 - No such object"

Anyone know how to fix these errors?

Thanks

I'd check your connection credentials and make sure they're correct. Also, double check network connectivity and make sure the ldap/ad service is running.

If that looks kosher make sure whatever you're searching for is actually there.
