Yes, I believe you can, just remember that it will take quite some time to complete. A fresh install just installs itself, an upgrade has to check each and every installed package first.
How did you intend to upgrade, by the way? By burning the latest iso or over the internet?
Thanks guys I wanted to conform before doing an experiment as I don't want to loose data once again. Well for jay73 I would prefer to burn the ISO and then upgrade.
billymayday, I waould like to know what do you mean by partition backup with DD. What DD means? I have a dual boot system and only one partition is alloted to linux. Any way I have full access to my window partions and my data are safe there.
