Hello all,
About a month ago I tried to use Fedora Core 2. Install completed perfectly, but when the system rebooted the comp froze at "Searching for New Drivers". After hard reboot comp froze again (Never got past this) at "Enabling Swap Drive". I spent many hours researching on the net (forums, howtos etc.) to no avail. Finally I gave up and posted a help request on this forum.
Well, after about a week two other people with the same question posted asking about the problem. I almost gave up on Fedora after the lack of support received, but I thought I would try one more thing. Fedora is the newest installment of the Red Hat line (given a completely unsupported piece of software) so I should be able to upgrade to FC2 from a previous version of Red Hat. (Dirty workaround) I downloaded shrike (RH9) and installed normally. Everything worked fine, so I then upgraded from RH9 to FC2 via the DVD and low and behold FC2 came right up and works beautifully!!!
Note: This problem seems to be from the install from the DVD version of FC2 (I haven't noticed any posts involving this except from the DVD) and also may have something to do with any USB devices hooked up during install (Just a guess) Whatever the case this method should work, although in the future I would like to see more help from the experts that post on this forum
