Unable to play wav and mp3 files in FC3

Hi all,

after Fedora Core 3 installation,

i am unable to play any music files like *.wav , *.mp3 other stuffs like that

when tried with the AUDIO TEST i could hear the sound and the
sounds from the games provided (ef. tux racer)

what should I configure to play music files?

Well... first of all Fedora, by default, can't play mp3s. Legal issues and such. But should be able to play wavs. What app are you using to play such files? What desktop are you using? The devil is in the details.

i am using

GNOME

and players

HELIX player and MUSIC player

isnt there any way to play to mp3 format
are there any tools to convert formats and play them?

Go to fedorafaq.org there's a section dealing with how to play mp3s with gnome based stuff. Sorry can't help more, I have more experience dealing with KDE.

It will show you the same question being asked again and again..about the same problem!
