Surround in Linux?

Hi,
Is there any way to have surround sound in Linux? Because, in gnome, in my volume control, there is two option like surround jack as input. And I checked that but there is no sound comming from it. And yeah maybe it's because my sounds are not surround? But there is another option "Spread Front to Surround and Center" and yeah, if I check that I don't have sound neither. But I do get sound from the front.

Someone has an idea on this?

If you right click on the sound icon there is a setting that will allow one to configure surround sound.

Sorry, not in front of my linux box right now.
