Resolution setting

Hello everbody,

My PC use the intel's 865 graphics card. I set the xorg.conf file with vesa driver and highest resolution as 1024*768.

When I restart my PC xorg.conf file with above settings,

xorg.conf file is using i810 driver with 1280*1024 resolution.

So How can I do auto setting the screen resolution to 1024*768 every time.

your any suggestioon will be greatly appreciated.

Warm regards
Ravime

As root from run level 3 (no X running) type something like:

system-config-display --reconfig --set-resolution=1024x768 --set-depth=24 --set-driver=i810

Exit from the GUI sesion. at the GUI log on screen press the three key combo of Ctrl+Alt+F1 to get to the first virtual console and log on as root.

Type:

init 3
(you may have to press the 'Enter' key a few seconds after the last green [OK] here)
system-config-display --reconfig --set-resolution=1024x768 --set-depth=24 --set-driver=i810

To test:
startx
(when done exit out of the GUI session)
init 5

Go back to the virtual console and log out as root press the thre ket combo of Ctrl+Alt+F7 to get back to the GUI log on screen.
