Recomended reading on how to compile programs instead of using Yum?
Hi all.
I'm using Fedora C1 and it's working great.
I was wondering if any one could point this eager NewB on how to compile rpm's ( if I need to install the dependices) instead of using yum... I know yum is a lot easier, but I want to know how to make file stuff, configure and all that stuff.
I have some old versions of linux books which are.
Running Linux second edition. Would this be sufficent or should I get the new version?
I did buy " Teach yourself Fedora in 24 hours". It was ok to get me started.
I am a newb, but would really like to leran how to do the programing type stuff you can do with linux, but I've never really programed before...
Any suggested books to get would really be appreciated....
Thanks,
Mitch
