Ready to tackle this one?

Hi everyone,
I've posted in a few different forums individual problems, but each solution leads to a new dilemma. The problem began when I reinstalled Windows on a dual boot machine, which wiped the grub bootloader. So I tried to reinstall grub but somehow reinstalled an older kernel(the original FC2), after which my USB ports quit working, some root commands no longer seem to work, and my GUI was shot. I seem to be able to get Gnome working again but still get the error of X respawning too many times: disabled for 5 minutes.

Now that I've royally fubarred this up, I am hoping someone can help me get my USB flash drive working enough to get some info backed up and try a fresh install. Please help!

Check to see if you have your original kernel files. Possibly grub has only installed a default config and hasn't deleted any kernel files.

You can edit your grub config (menu.list) to include your original kernel paths, possibly as a secondary option. You will then be able to choose and boot into the original kernel.

Okay I actually did get Grub finally figured out and yum'ed in the new kernel. What happens now is the X error and I am still unable to use USB ports even with the updated kernel now installed...

STill don't have an answer.

Maybe some questions someone can answer:
How do I check to see if the USB port is working or drivers installed?
Whats my fstab supposed to look like for a flash drive?

What can I check to get rid of the X error of 'respawning too fast: disabled for 5 min"?
