I just installed FC3 on my computer. During first time configuration, I created a user account. However, when I attempted to log in, I found out that my account would not work. Logging in as root, I went to the Users and Groups program to see what was wrong. My account was not listed for some reason.

I tried to add a new account, with no luck. When I entered all the information and pressed OK, the app would freeze up. I then tried the useradd command line utility, and still had no luck. When I attempted to create my account from here, I get an error "useradd: cannot rewrite password file."

I tried to find help on IRC, and was told that someone else had been having the same problems, due to a weird configuration. I tried to delete the password .lock file, but I still got the same error. We thought it might have been because I had up2date running in the background while I was trying to create a new account, but that is not the case.

If it helps, here is the result of ls -l /etc/passwd:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1441 Feb 23 19:33 /etc/passwd

Does anyone know what to do to solve this? I can post any more info that you need. Thanks in advanced for any help.

Fixed it! Had to disable SE.

Gald to here that. I dislike the SE scheme myself. To many things to screw up.
