Dear all,

Newbie question I'm afraid but when I try to use "yum install" I ge the following error. Any idea how to sort this out? The install is on my personal laptop so to all inteents and purposes I am the sysadmin! How do I update the headers?

Thanks

Gathering header information file(s) from server(s)
Server: Fedora Core 2 - i386 - Base
Server: Downloaded rpms
Error - /var/cache/yum/local repository/header.info cannot be found
Please ask your sysadmin to update the headers on this system.

Try "yum check-update". This should download new headers for you. I hope it works.

Thanks for the idea. Here's what happened:

Gathering header information file(s) from server(s)
Server: Fedora Core 2 - i386 - Base
Server: Downloaded rpms
retrygrab() failed for:
file://home/estronac/tmp_rpms/headers/header.info
Executing failover method
failover: out of servers to try
Error getting file file://home/estronac/tmp_rpms/headers/header.info
[Errno 5] OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/estronac/tmp_rpms/headers/header.info'

"estronac" is my regualr account name and the only user other than root on the system.

The only non-hidden files in the directory "home/estronac/tmp_rpms/headers" are "apt-0-0.5.15cnc6-0.fdr.11.2.i386.hdr" "synaptic-0-0.52-17.rhfc2.at.i386.hdr"
and "header.info"

The contents of "header.info" are

0:apt-0.5.15cnc6-0.fdr.11.2.i386=apt-0.5.15cnc6-0.fdr.11.2.i386.rpm
0:synaptic-0.52-17.rhfc2.at.i386=synaptic-0.52-17.rhfc2.at.i386.rpm

Any ideas as I have none!

Thanks
