problem mounting USB drive in FC2

I have just installed FC2 on an IBM T22. Looks good so far, though Emacs seems a little different from the version I had in Mandrake 9.
I am trying to mount a USB drive. When I run dmesg I get this:

usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using address 2
Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
Vendor: LEXAR Model: JUMPDRIVE PRO Rev: 1000
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
USB Mass Storage device found at 2
usbcore: registered new driver usb-storage
USB Mass Storage support registered.
SCSI device sda: 506880 512-byte hdwr sectores (260 MB)
sda: assuming Write Enabled
sda: assuming drive cache: write through
sda: sda1
Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id0, lun 0

which to me says that the machine sees my USB drive at sda1, so I try this:

mount -t vfat sda1 /mnt/flash.

Well, the machine says that directory sda1 does not exist. In desperation I remove "sda1" and try again. Then I got a man page explaining how mount is supposed to be used. It actually confused me more.

Am I using the correct command?
Should I be doing something else?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Quote:

Should be:
mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/flash

Did you create the directory /mnt/flash?

D'OH!
I feel so stupid right now. Oh, well, I learn something new every day.

Thank you for the help.

No, I did not create the "flash" directory. I had created a "removable" directory, but the system must have created it's own directory after I inserted the USB drive.

Once again, thank you for your help.

Busybox USB Flash problem

I am using the latest version of an offline NT password and registry editor found here http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ which I picked up a month ago and have been playing with and am having the same problems mentioned in the post above except I don't get messages setting up the flash drive on /dev

ex: (I don't see this part in dmesg)
USB Mass Storage support registered.
SCSI device sda: 506880 512-byte hdwr sectores (260 MB)
sda: assuming Write Enabled
sda: assuming drive cache: write through
sda: sda1
Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id0, lun 0

I do see:

usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2

and if I remove and re-insert the drive I see:

usb 1-1: USB disconnect, address 2
usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3

I am completely new to unix, so I am having trouble getting this flash drive to mount. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
