Problem logging out of FC2

I moved from FC1 to FC2. I'm having an odd problem. When I log out from a session (I'm using Gnome) the system "loses" the monitor. The little screen that appears if no input is being received pops up. *Nothing* I've done gets the monitor to come back up. I have to restart.

Nothing special about the machine or the set up. FC2 properley recognized my video card and monitor. I did a clean install, though I left my ~ directory intact.

When I do restart, the login screen displays properly.

Anyone else having this problem?

well, i just finaly installed FC2 lastnight. twice, when i went to shutdown, once through gnome and once through kde, my screen seemed to want to go back to the login screen, but everything freezes, and my screen slowly turns white...you know that new fade feature that i noticed in FC2, when you click to log out of gnome or kde, a dialog pops up and everything else fades some, like in XP? well, it sorta does opposite. first the screen and everything freezes, and then it just slowly fades to white.

one thing i like about fc2 is that, i didn't have to manualy change the x86config file for my screen and vid-card, like i had to do with RH8 and 9. It was able to config it-self. If i manualy change the config file my-self, do u think this problem will go away? i found that if i where to just log out back to the login screen, and THEN shutdown, i don't have this freezeing and fading problem. i dont' know if this helps 'jwb' any with his problem.

thnx
gyro
