gcc
you need to install gcc / g++ to be able to compile source code, these should be available in package form (pre configured for your system ... .rpm files) get the latest version.
then most likely you will have a list of files that the configure script will tell you it needs to work these are known as dependencies, you have to find these and install them first before you can succeed at ./configure, some of the dependencies might also have other dependencies, try to find them through a package manager / rpm this makes everything MUCH easier usually resolves dependencies by itself.

just a note : this information is available ALL OVER THE INTERWEBS and though LQ users tend to be awesome people, it's just good manners to do some simple googling before you post questions, also, when something tells you to see blahblah.log for details you should post pertinent parts of blahblah.log in your question
