...where is the IP address? I just issued the same here and there's a line for IP address, broadcast and mask, that's missing here...I'd try to set a fixed IP addresss just to make sure. Possibly, the whole thing is set up to expect a DHCP server (somewhere) but is'nt finding any...

Here, the is indeed an IP address. However. How do you hook up to the modem? Network cable? Could it be you're not in the same address range as the modem? Example IP address 192.168.1.11 and IP address 192.168.2.22 will not find each other, the range should be 192.168.1.x where x is 1 to 255...
Make sure the addressing in the LAN is okay...
O, and, by the way (I've lost a whole weekend on that one
so trust me) is the wire plugged in?
