Monitor re-probe?

Morning, all

I have a Fedora Core 1 installation from back when Core 1 first came out, and I just switched monitors from a Samtron to a ViewSonic G90f. When I re-run redhat-config-xfree86, I see that there are no drivers for this monitor. Didn't find any out there in internet-land, either (Viewsonic's web site only has Windows and Mac drivers).

So, I would like to re-probe the monitor to see what comes up as the closest approximation (since using the generic 1280x1024 driver results in a screen that isn't very pleasant to look at), but unlike RH9, Fedora's X config doesn't seem to have that option. I don't want to go and re-install Fedora completely, so does anyone know if there is a way to run a monitor probe without re-installing?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Hi,

You don't need drivers for the monitor's just the frequence of operation. To make the X probe for itjust type:

# X -configure

and check the config file in the home directory in Section Monitor.

Hope that helps
