Login on X

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie to this forum as well as to Linux I am currently facinga problem with graphical login screen with my Fedora Core 1 distribution. Prior to the occuring of the problem, I have updated the systems (i might think this is the bloody reason )

I used to login the graphical screen before but now it change to CLI (text mode) and a line saying that " INIT: id "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes ". Then I went Enter. It asked me to put the login name and password (but in text mode ). It then came up with the command line like wen we run the Terminal in the graphical screen. When I tried to used the command startx, a series of error showin up:

xauth:error while loading shared libraries: libXmuu.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
xauth:error while loading shared libraries: libXmuu.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
xauth:error while loading shared libraries: libXmuu.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
xauth:error while loading shared libraries: libXmuu.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
xinit:error while loading shared libraries: libXmuu.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
xauth:error while loading shared libraries: libXmuu.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

and when i pressed Ctrl+Alt+F7 to get back to the graphical login screen and receive the same error line like before INIT: id "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes.

And more thing (sorry for askin toomuch ), whenever i update the new kernel saying 2.4.22-1.2115 to 2.4.22-1.2188 and lastly to 2.4.22-1.2194, it showed one more option of the new kernel to the GRUB Login page. I wonder how to get the update overwrite the old version. (I have thought of reconfiguring the grub-conf file but wonder whether its better or not...hehe). Could anyone help me out with that.

Appreciate for ur help
