in my quest to learn more about kernel 2.6.xx i upgraded my system to fedora core 2...and i bet this distribution is not ready for use....due to...

the moment i connected my usb modem onto fc-2 it switched it off
it doesnot autorun CDs...

any solutions

the only solution i could figure out is that one must do an upgrade of fc1 that is all....can u suggest some reading mtl ....so as to help me in doing a fresh install of fc2

hi there

since u r not installing linux for the first time so i do not find any reading material or this which will help u since the install proces is very easy u will not face any problems

also u could have used 2.6 kernel in fc1 itself..

well i did get 2.6.xx on fc-1 but then it was not iniotialising my usb modem..... also i went to linmodems.org....no help......

there is some problem with usb devices in 2.6
u need to have edit ur rc.sysinit for that

quite a good one helped me migrate from 2.4 to 2.6 while using rh 9.0

well 2.6.6 is up and is running ...the trick i used was ....not to build modules but to install it in the kernel itself.....
