Red face Howl

I recently bumped up to FC3 which includes Gnome 2.8. One of the things in the new Gnome is Howl. I think I'm missing the point of what Howl gets me. I can't really uninstall it since it is apparently a dependency for about half the packages installed on my box. I've looked at the porchdog software page but I'm still not sure why I should want this thing. Can anyone give me an idea or point me in the direction of a clue. Thanks.
