Question How to see windows box from fc2 box

I have a fc2 box and an xp box connected by a linksys router acting as a gateway. I want to be able to see and have access to files on the xp box from the linux box. I have tried to learn this from some posts and had a go at samba but it hasn't helped. I dont know how to do it.

please help! :?

you can try this tuturial under networking guide http://fedoranews.org/contributors/c...iat/fc2_guide/
but you also need at least read some samba reference.

Well, assuming fedora by default set it up for you, an easy way is to type "smb://computername" in the address bar of your file manager, of course you can use the windows computer name or the ip address. That will let your browse and copy/paste from the windows shares.

If you want to be able to open and edit the files or stream music+movies then you have to mount the shares in your local filesystem. Sorry I dont have a link to a tutorial on that.
