how come usb flash drive doesn't get auto mounted?
it creates the dev for my flash drive and folder in media, but it doesn't mount it?
I'm using kde and not gnome. In gnome it automounted so I'm not sure why it doesn't here.
I have the most up to date kernel, and I'm upgrading kde to 3.5.1

Are you talking about a line in fstab that you think should auto mount? If so, you probably don't have USB built into your kernel, and therefore it can't be mounted at the time fstab is processed; you may need usb-storage modprobe'd first, or maybe hotplug needs to start first.

PS Maybe you are talking about Gnome detecting it while it's running?
