Unhappy help with mysql please....

Hello , I recently bought the bible book and it came with fedora linux 3. I guess I will start by saying, i bought the book with the intent of installing linux, on my pc, and setting up a small server so i can host my own website and save money instead of paying monthly, and to learn something new. I have linux installed, and i did all the updates that were available, but the funny thing is I am trying to install all of the my sql features, and i am having problems... I am opening a terminal window and i am typing what the book tells me but i get an error message telling me that it is a bad command.... Also I am the root user.. Can anyone that has knowledge please teel me how to set up my pc as a small server for me to host my website please? I have a static IP address, and I know that i have to install apache, mysql, php, and I dont knopw what else i have to install to set this up for me to host my own site, and i would greatly appreciate any help because i am not too sure what i have to do or how to do it...... thank you much everyone...

mysql_install_db

--watch the screen, and it'll give you the SQL commands to secure the root user. do that, and you should be ready to run mySQL
