hey guys,
i got a classic ipod (120GB) and i cant read it in r/w mode.

the ipod is recognized as an hfsplus file system with journaling:

Code:
 dmesg | tail -n 18

as i understand, fedora does't have this kind of support, and i have to reformat my ipod as a hfsplus file system WITHOUT journaling.

may some one of you give me instructions in order to do this formating ?

- what software do i need ?
- where to get it ?
- any tips ?

i have fedora 10.

thanks in advance!

Hector

i've installed hfsplus-tools using the yum extender, and format my ipod as:

Code:
mkfs.hfs -v iPod /dev/sdc2
Initialized /dev/sdc2 as a 111GB HFS Plus volume
then i put permissions to the directory

Code:
mount -v -t hfsplus /dev/sdc2 ipod_data
chmod a+rw ipod_data
now, i can write to my ipod :-)

still working on it :-(

regards

hector

pd. see this link for details on a devian machine:
http://kpweb.homelinux.org/recipes/m..._on_linux.html

i've replace all the stuff about getting tools in order to be able to reformat the ipod.

hey guys,
i formatted my ipod as an hfsplus file system WITHOUT journaling, i copied all my music, and today it says again that it is a READ ONLY FS :-(

how can happend that ?
all my music is in there but i can't write nothing anymore.

permissions:

Code:
drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 2009-05-31 20:16 iPod

chown duque32 iPod
chown: changing ownership of `iPod': Read-only file system

mount
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00 on / type ext3 (rw)
/proc on /proc type proc (rw)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620)
/dev/sda1 on /boot type ext3 (rw)
tmpfs on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw)
/dev/sdb1 on /home/data type ext3 (rw)
none on /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc type binfmt_misc (rw)
sunrpc on /var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs type rpc_pipefs (rw)
gvfs-fuse-daemon on /home/duke32/.gvfs type fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon (rw,nosuid,nodev,user=duke32)
/dev/sdc2 on /media/iPod type hfsplus (rw,nosuid,nodev,uhelper=hal)
the only special event happened was that my iPod was connected to a windows machine, but i didnt copied nothing from that machine.

any ideas?

thanks in advance.

hector
