Fonts disappeared from screen in Fedora!

Hi All

Just installed Fedora on my laptop yesterday. Everything went fine. Then, updated all packages that had updates available via the on-line RH Update Agent.

Upon restart, all the screen fonts are missing. The system has no fonts/text displaying. Very strange. Desktop icons sit there with no text; menu, no text; windows and pop-ups, no text; even the taskbar and log-in screen, no text.

Anyone any ideas?

I've done nothing to the system except the kernel update and package updates. I can switch kernels at start-up, but the same problem occurs.

The only place the fonts show are in the terminal and the update agent.

Bump!

I'm having exactly the same problem, after rebooting following a pile of RHN updates. Anyone???

My solution was to install SuSE instead!

It seems to be the updates that do it. Perhaps to so with the X11 fonts on offer via the update?

If this is Fedora 1, I've heard that restarting XFS does the trick

Thanks for the reply, but I tried that, and it didn't work. :-(

That WAS a problem, however; previously, X wouldn't even start because XFS was down. But rebooting it and starting X again now produces this problem.

Cheers,
Aaron.
