I had issues with other distros on this particular laptop since the 12th Gen Intel processors really, really want the latest kernel. So I installed Fedora 37 Cinnamon edition, and it works really well. The nicest part is the stability and I now have pretty decent battery life, before I was getting 3-4 hours max, now I am getting 4-6 hours. The Galago units have too small a battery compared to the Lemur Pro's 73 w/hr battery. I can completely recommend Fedora 37 Cinnamon to anyone who has a 12th gen Intel chipset.

Latest kernel 6.0.14 arrived and still working great. System 76 Coreboot systems are very picky about the kernel and the firmware in the Linux distributions. I have Mint running on my other two System 76 units, and on the HP Dev One. On the old System 76 Darter Pro (1st gen) I managed to get LMDE5 running with the 5.10 kernel before I put POP!_OS back on it, and gave it to a buddy who really needed a laptop. The Galago wants (and needs) a 6.0 or later kernel for the processor. I am wondering how the new AMD 6000+ series works on Linux?

Ok, here is a short review of this thing. As a laptop goes, my biggest comment is, if System 76 would put the 73 watt/hour battery from the Lemur in this system it would be an absolutely perfect laptop. Battery life is its downfall.

Keyboard: One of the nicer ones I have used, good feel, excellent to type on. I really like this keyboard. Plus being a 14" there is no numpad on it, I despise numpads.

Trackpad: It is good, not as nice as the one on a Macbook, or the HP Dev One, but not bad at all. The trackpad is nicely centered, and since there is no numpad it does not get in your way.

Screen: Nice and bright. Not as bright as the Lemur Pro or the HP Dev One, but still a very good screen. 14" 1080p and at 15-20% very usable.

Speakers: They are typical laptop speakers, what more can you say?

Webcam: Typical potato quality, nothing to write home about.

Ports: OMFG YES! This thing has excellent ports, including an real Ethernet Port! Excellent selection, and what I wanted in a laptop.

Weight: Good balance of weight and portability. If it is fully charged I can take it to the coffee shop without taking the charger.

Battery: Meh. Just meh. If it came with the 73 watt/hour battery it would be the perfect laptop.

Build quality: Really good.

Software: POP!_OS is ok, but I really loathe Gnome since you are locked into their look, and cannot mod anything. Adding extensions is ridiculous especially as they break each time Gnome "upgrades" something. Plus the System 76 versions of KDE and Cinnamon are old, and look ugly compared to Mint or Fedora.

Overall: I like the Lemur Pro better despite the Galago having a slightly better keyboard. If you do not want or need long battery life, I can completely recommend this laptop. Otherwise plan on keeping the charger close at hand.
