fedora 2, gimp2, wacom, pressure problem

i have a serious problem with my tablet and gimp - application fails to recognize when i stop drawing. it acts like i was still touching the tablet with a pen. as a result, i can't press any button, use any menu or even switch to another application. drivers seem to work ok - wacdump shows 0% pressure, but gimp thinks that stylus is touching the tablet. any ideas what i should do?
