Hello,
I have a samba server 3.014a running on a Fedora core 4 system. For some reason ports 139 and 445 are unavailable so I can't connect to it.
Here is my nmap output:
[root@whs1 ~]# nmap localhost
Starting nmap 3.81 (
http://www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) at 2005-08-18 16:33 EDT
Interesting ports on whs1.tow.net (127.0.0.1):
(The 1655 ports scanned but not shown below are in state: closed)
PORT STATE SERVICE
22/tcp open ssh
25/tcp open smtp
111/tcp open rpcbind
389/tcp open ldap
631/tcp open ipp
873/tcp open rsync
2601/tcp open zebra
2604/tcp open ospfd
Nmap finished: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.247 seconds
I have no firewall running also iptables -L:
[root@whs1 ~]# iptables -L
Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
[root@whs1 ~]#
Also selinux is disabled
[root@whs1 ~]# getsebool
getsebool: SELinux is disabled
[root@whs1 ~]#
I have no idea how this happened. Any suggestions? Could a bad parameter in the smb.conf disable listening ports?
