FC5 x86_64 openoffice & wine problems!

This is a sort of two-in-one problem. If either of these get solved, I'm golden.
After yum updating, Open Office now has a segfault. I have reinstalled it, no idea what is causing it, but it doesn't work.

Yum will not compile from source, and when I run yum install wine it installs and typing wine gives the help text, but if I try to run winecfg, the program hangs and takes all of my processor power.

I need one of the two to work so that I can install either Open Office or my old 'doze version of Corel WordPerfect Office 2000 with Wine.. (I'd really like WordPerfect, because that's what I grew up on )

OK, thanks for any and all help.
Just a restatement -- this is Fedora Core 5 on x86_64, and I don't know if this could be a problem but I am running the nvidia glx drivers as well..

Thanks.
Ian

Hello,
You should not have to compile yum. If you need to upgrade, then just enter yum update yum. If you downloaded wine via yum then its working. Also I recommend that you install yumex (yum install yumex). This will help you get openoffice.org packages, since there are a few of them. (oppenoffice.org-core, oppenoffice.org-calc, ...). Better yet, if you have the installation disk, you can get the packages from there.

I have wine installed and run firefox and ies4linux with it. I have not tried any office programs, but dont be surprised if they dont work.

I don't know why you can't get winecfg to work, try deleting the .wine folder and running winecfg again. Make sure you run a user account with wine and not root.
