The install program had difficulty estimating the amount of time to complete installation. From 28 minutes remaining, to 30, to 45, to 40,. . . I went to bed after two hours.
Installation was apparently successful but on trying to boot, I only got this far:
Code:
Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.
Immediately, VPC informed me that it had encountered an "unrecoverable processor error" and would reboot the virtual machine. I don't even know where to begin to look.
I've set the memory to 512MB, which ought to be enough for minimal messing around. The installer detected the correct virtual display. The mouse apparently functions. Booting from the rescueCD, I didn't find any error logs in Linux.
Any ideas how to get this working in Virtual PC? Something simple? Something incompatible? Am I just wasting my time?
