FC 6 / Windows Xp Pro Booting On Seperate Drives

Hey all,
I installed FC 6 on a seperate hard drive from my windows xp, however, I think i made the mistake of unplugging my windows xp hard drive before the install of FC6. Argh, now I unplug the drive with linux on it, to switch back over, and i get past bios and i get a message saying Failed to load OS.

Am I hooped, or is there a way to get around this!

Thanks for your help

Firstly, check bios is booting the correct drive.

if windows is pooped, boot from win CD rescue text mode and do a 'fixmbr', this helped me out many a times.

do you really need to swap drives around at all?

it depends on where u have installed ur Boot loader... try using "fdisk /mbr",, dis wil relace ur existing MBR with a fresh windows mbr...if u wanna have boh windows xp and linux on r boot loader screen GRUB can do it as well... connect both ur hard drives(one with windows and the other one wth linux).assming tat windows is on "hda" and lnux is on "hdb",,,use linux disk to go to rescue mode..then type "grub-intall /dev/hda" .... now the boot loader(grub) is loaded on ur mbr of hda.... now u wil b able 2 find both windows and linux options during boot...
