You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

when i open a music file with right click then open with vlc it shows nothing

plz tell me what to do to run vlc in my fedora 14

Looks like you don't have the fedora and/or fedora-updates repos enabled

that sounds about right
To see run this command - it will tell you just what is installed and turned on or off
Code:
su -
-- your root password when asked for ---
yum repolist all
and when was the last time you ran
Code:
yum update

WHAT did not work ?????
we still DO NOT KNOW what repos you have turned on or OFF

if -- say for example-- YOU turned off the fedora updates THERE WILL be problems
WE are not mind readers so WE can not help if you do not provide the information

Fedora NEVER did and never will ship with proprietary software
and video software IS VERY patent encumbered and you will NEED to install a LOT of software to get it to play most things .

you might want to see
set up yum
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...a-f14.html#yum
set up and "Install Media Players"
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...l#mediaplayers

but dangermouse's "autoten" dose a good job of installing the 20+ programs
http://www.dnmouse.org/autoten/

and see and READ fedoras OWN "user guide"
the section on multimedia
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...ultimedia.html

(rpmfusion-free-rawhide)
if the TESTING ONLY fedora 15 repo
DO NOT use it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and if anything form it was installed REMOVE IT NOW --
DO NOT wait 5 min.
uninstall ALL fedora 15 rpm's NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to check run this
Code:
su -
--- your root password when asked ---
rpm -qa | grep fc15
then from that list uninstall ALL of them !

and read the fedora 14 ( the fedora 14 ) user guide.

here is your problem YOU turned off
fedora Fedora 14 - i386 disabled
updates Fedora 14 - i386 - Update disabled

turn them back on
those two MUST be on !

open the file in /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-updates.repo & fedora.repo ( should be called that ) and change
enable=0
to
enable=1

then once you do that
run a update and clean the yum/rpm database
Code:
su -
yum clean all
rpm --rebuilddb
yum update
then install vlc

then INSTALL the rmpfusion NON-FREE
AS THE HELP page told you to !
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...a-f14.html#yum
or use the "autoten" script
http://www.dnmouse.org/autoten/

both Mjmwired and Dangermouse's help pages work

Also please fallow Mjm's part on setting up yum
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...a-f14.html#yum
( and keep in mind that fedora DOSE NOT use "sudo" by default !)
use " su -" instead to become root
