Angry Error -> CRITICAL **: egg_desktop_entries

well since 2 weeks, my mozilla software doesn´t work anymore, not thunderbird, not firefox, both programs don't show letters or pics...
I´ve already tried to remove and install them, but the problem is still there, when i install, YUM shows me this message:

CRITICAL **: egg_desktop_entries_add_group: assertion `egg_desktop_entries_lookup_group (entries, group_name) == NULL' failed + firefox fc4

what can i do???

if you need more details i would be glad if you try to contact me through ICQ, my number is 175654682

I really love my firefox....

THX

firefox not working

I would use yum to remove all problem software. I think you will have to remove java or a plugin which wasn't installed properly. I would use a new download of firefox and thunderbird. Use a rpm file as they are much easier to install. If using sun java use the rpm file as the other one uses a different directory and the java plugin won't work.
http://dag.wieers.com/packages/ and http://rpmfind.maine.edu/ These links should have rpm files.

Re: firefox not working

Hi rhandwor

I did everithing like you told me. NO RESULTS

The error continues.

I installed a brand new java, removed firefox... installed firefox - same problem, he installes it, but when i run Firefox, he shows me no letters, but just stripes.

Could the problem have anything to do whit another error i got? (when i run synaptic, he tells me that there are multiple versions of libsrvg2, in fact, this is true, i have 4 of them, so i tried to remove all of them, to install them anew.
so i did:

Running Transaction

Removing : librsvg2 ######################### [4/6]

error: %postun(librsvg2-2.9.5-2.i386) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

ups, my fc4 is in german, but "Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden" means, that the file wasn´t found.

maybe someone else knows what this mean and how to resolve this problm.

THX rhandwor, but it didnt resolve the problm...
