dual booting with winxp on two harddrives

I want to dual boot with 2 hdds (winxp occupies hdb). I looked at the grub.conf and menu.lst files, but don't know what to add to make it work. How would I go about doing this? Is there an easier way a la gui?

With what do you want to dual boot? You just mentioned XP. I did that once, Dual-boot XP with Xandros. Problems , thats all it is, XP did not let me access the *net and xandros was doing weird thing. But if you really want to go ahead.
Make sure you install XP first, BIG problems otherwise. If you use a linux OS like Xandros, than it will configure the boot loader automatically and when you switch on your PC than it'll give you an option which one to boot.
Hope that helps!

I already installed XP on the slave drive, then installed fedora on the master, but the installer didnt detect XP---hence I cant log into it.

I don't know nothing about fedora. Are you using their newest release?
I'm a n00b myself, so I have not tried very many flavors of linux and still am not very fluent at the command-line, so forgive me if this is kinda worthless.

Probably expects XP to reside on the master, just like M$oft does.
Poor design/implementation by both.
Edit:Re-reading, you may not have a Windows entry at all - in that case add;
Code:
title Windows
map (hd0) (hd1)
map (hd1) (hd0)
rootnoverify (hd1,0)
chainloader +1
Make sure you have a space between all parameters.

Thanks, that did the trick. To answer your question, I installed XP then changed the jumpers to slave and put in another hd. Then installed fedora on the new master.
