Um, well, "burning it as a .iso" is not, actually, what you need to do. You need to "burn the iso image" as an image, no a file.
You didn't specify which program you used to burn the cd, but, for example, if you use K3b, there's an option under "Tools" to "Burn a DVD iso image."
You can also create a GRUB floppy boot, and have GRUB boot directly from the image on you HD, so you don't, actually, need to burn the image to a real DVD. (Of course, the image needs to be on a drive different from the one to which you want to install Fedsora.)
