Question Do I have a virus / rootkit ?

I installed Fedora 7 recently , using a live CD .
There was no problem for a few days . I also updated most of the packages except for the kernel .
Now when I do
rpm -Va
I get many screens of lines like this .

Quote:
prelink: /usr/bin/blackjack: at least one of file's dependencies has changed since prelinking
S.?..... /usr/bin/blackjack
The files in the BIN and SBIN directories are certainly affected . Maybe other directories too ...
I am certain it is a virus and really have no problem reinstalling .

I have run chkrootkit which shows no problems .
What else can I do .
The problem which appears in usage is this . .
Every executable takes at least 2 minutes to load .

What can I do to prevent reinstalling ?
What else can I check ?

Ummm I don't see anything wrong with your configuration. When I run that command I get tons of those messages as well. Why were you running a verify on all of your installed packages anyways?

prelink: /usr/bin/superkaramba: at least one of file's dependencies has changed since prelinking
S.?..... /usr/bin/superkaramba
prelink: /usr/lib/libkcmlaptop.so.0.0.0: at least one of file's dependencies has changed since prelinking
S.?..... /usr/lib/libkcmlaptop.so.0.0.0

Sorry did not have Internet access for five days.
I think you missed the subject of the mail . I was suspecting a virus...

Do you feel 2 minutes for a program to load is OK ?

Based on the output you posted I do not suspect you have a virus. That's not to say that you do or don't, but just based off those "prelink" messages you're getting that is not reason to believe you have a virus/rootkit. I posted my prelink's from my box as I get those same messages. Those are not generated b/c of a virus/rootkit

Just to say the problem disappeared. It was not a virus it probably had something to do with Gnome. I logged out . Set the session to KDE . On logging back the delay was not there ... ???
