display out of ranges


hi,

i have changed a monitor of my FC2. then, my X windows cannot be turned on. previously, i was in the same situation, after the changing of the monitor, my x windows wont work again. the monitor yields me a blue box with the message "Out of range Horizontal 68.6KHz Vertical 84.9Hz". pls advise. thanks

Here is a command which works on Fedora 3. I don't remember if it's the same on Fedora 2 .

system-config-display
Select the Hardware tab
For my system, it looks like this...
Monitor Type: Sony CDP-100ES

If you don't see the correct monitor, select Configure ...

After you have that set, try it with the command:init 5

Boot your computer into Rul Level 3, and then run "xf86config" or "XFree86 --configure". If Fedora uses Xorg, then the commands would be the Xorg equivalent.

Follow the prompts, and it will replace your configuration file. Then try running "startx", and see if X will start up. If it does, then you can change to RunLevel 5.
