Contact your administrator

First of all, I cannot use my CD-ROM drives for playing Audio. It says that there is no drive mounted. I do not have any clue how to use Linux, as I'm a complete noob at it, but I can do most of the basic things like change some small settings, and themes and what not.

When I go to Disk Management, it says "There are no filesystems which you are allowed to mount or unmount. Contact your administrator."
I AM the admin, it's my PC for crying out loud lol, how can I bypass that? And how can I mount the CD-ROM drives? Oh also, I can't use my webcam (Logitech Quickcam Zoom), it shows it in the hardware manager, but I can't use it somehow... thanks a lot!

hi,
for playing audioCDs you could use kscd,...

mount cdromīs via dekstop (->doubleclick) or console
Code:
mount /dev/hdb /mnt/cdrom
for example), see īman mountī

If you use KsCD and Gnome CD Player, you don't need to mount anything to play audio CD's since they don't have a valid filesystem. Just make sure you have read permissions to your cdrom device and configure the CD Player apps to the right device.

"Contact your administrator" has got to be the absolute most hilarious "help" messages in _any_ computer system.

I've been my own "administrator" since the early 80s. And now I know an even smaller percentage of the answers! Ha!

When I worked for a company that had a "Computer Service" department, service was the last thing you could expect. They changed their name to IT (Information Technology), but that didn't add their capabilities.

On the other hand, this site and its forum have yielded bushels of helpful information.

Keep it comin'.
Bucky
