changing permission


i want to paste a folder in /root folder but i am denied the access..how can i change the permission and access contents of the root folder?

That's generally a bad idea. A better idea would be to do something like:

sudo cp myFolder /root
This gives you special root privileges for just that command so you can copy it without compromising your security
