Can't access desktop now that effects enabled (Fedora 10 KDE)

Hi guys,

I'm running Fedora 10 with KDE. I've just enabled the desktop effects, & then it crashed back to the login screen. Now everytime I try to login, the screen goes black & crashes back to the login screen again. I just want to get the desktop effects turned off & switch it back to standard settings. I've tried starting in text only mode & changing the xorg.conf file. Heres what I tried:
PHP Code:
cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup
...to back up the file, but it says the file isn't found. Then I was going to use (tried it anyway to see what came up):
PHP Code:
vi /etc/X11/xorg.conf
...to open with the vi editor but I can't find the Extensions section (or anything for that matter!) when I press i, so I can't change from "Enable" to "Disable". I saw this on another forum (I had a good look for an answer before I posted so as not to waste anyones time!) & aparently it worked for some other dude, but he didn't specify what ver of Fedora he was using. I should have left my desktop alone, it looked good enough before I did it & I'd just got everything configured the way I wanted it
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Cheers!

Quick Update....

Ok, I've just managed to get into the Gnome desktop (wouldn't let me before, but now it is for some reason lol) so I'm looking for the file now, but I haven't had any luck in finding it yet. So I guess now I need to know which file to edit & where it's located, as the one I tried to get at from the command line earlier, doesn't appear to be in the location I was looking in. Does Anyone know where I should be looking & what I need to change?
Cheers guys!
