Booting fedora 21 to init 3

Hi There,
I was wondering if anyone could help me to get fedora 21 to boot to shell permanently. I installed it fresh onto a USB stick and can’t find the correct grub section to alter.

I have a grub2.cfg in etc but can’t open it as a dialog tells me the link is broken.

Etc/default/grub holds:
Code:
GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR="$(sed 's, release .*$,,g' /etc/system-release)"
GRUB_DEFAULT=saved
GRUB_DISABLE_SUBMENU=true
GRUB_TERMINAL_OUTPUT="console"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="rd.lvm.lv=fedora/swap rd.lvm.lv=fedora/root rhgb quiet 3"
GRUB_DISABLE_RECOVERY="true"
But doesn’t seem to do much

Etc/Inittab holds:
Code:
# inittab is no longer used.
# ADDING CONFIGURATION HERE WILL HAVE NO EFFECT ON YOUR SYSTEM.
# Ctrl-Alt-Delete is handled by /usr/lib/systemd/system/ctrl-alt-del.target
# systemd uses 'targets' instead of runlevels. By default, there are two main targets:
# multi-user.target: analogous to runlevel 3
# graphical.target: analogous to runlevel 3
# To view current default target, run:
# systemctl get-default
# To set a default target, run:
# systemctl set-default TARGET.target
Do I need to compile anything?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Its great having it on a stick but I don't want all the graphics.

Many Thanks
x

during the 3 sec. countdown for what kernel to boot to
hit the <e> button
use the down arrow key to navigate to the kernel line
use the left/right arrows to move to the END of the kernel line

and one blank space and the number 3
hit the <f10> button
once the fedora Plymouth boot gui finishes and CLOSES the terminal will come up for a TEXT login

i am assuming log in as root

do your stuff
type in one of a few things

reboot
or
telinit 5
