Boot Linux from CD ?

Hi all!!!
I'm a newbie of Linux. I have just install Fedora Core 4, I have some questions:
1. Can i use windows-explorer style in this Linux distribution?
2. Can i make a boot CD (not Floppy start up disk because FDD is not popular today)? What should i do to make it.
Thanks so much!

1. Yes, it's called Konqueror in a KDE desktop or Nautilis in Gnome (which is probably what you're using).

2. Download the ultimate Boot CD or use your install CD to boot the hard disk install.

Look at the man pages for the "mkbootdisk" and "mkrescue" commands if you have them. One or both may have an --iso option to create a small CDROM image. Then simply burn the image to create a bootable cdrom.

I don't use Fedora Core, but when I used Mandrake, the "mkrescue --iso" command would produce a rescue disk. One of the options on the menu was to boot from hard drive.

The 2.6 kernel is larger than the 2.4 one was, so the mkbootdisk program probably wouldn't be able to produce a floppy image anyway, because it would be too large to fit on a floppy.

In order to make an ISO file by mkbootdisk command, i type the command:
mkbootdisk --iso \dev\saoluu.iso `uname -r`
but that isn't work properly, i think the second parameter "\dev\saoluu.iso" is wrong because according to help for mkbootdisk command, this parameter must be device file. What should i do to solve this problem?

Try this as root
Code:
#mkbootdisk --iso --device somename.iso `uname -r`
where
"somename.iso" - the name of your file which is later burned onto a cd. It can also be a path, eg.,/folder1/folder2/file.iso

After create iso for boot and secure disk for Fedora Core 4, i have a new question: if i can burn boot and secure iso in only one CD?
I have just find the kernel for this distribution at : /lib/include or /usr/src. May i boot my system from CD by burning this kernel to CD?

What do you mean here?? You have 2 iso's??

IF so, i don't think its possible to burn 2 iso's to a single cd sadly(that i know of). An iso image file will register the entire cd no matter even if it's just a 10mb file.

On the other hand, the iso you created using mkbootdisk itself is a bootable linux disc. Burn it and boot with it. It already has the kernel information. Remember `uname -r`. This writes your current kernel to the iso.
