Question Automount my windows shared directory fails

I have FC1 installed on my laptop and want to make occasional use of my windows XP network shared 'install' directory.

My windows machine has the network name 'gandalf' (it isn't that smart actually but just as ugly) and i have a directory shared as 'install'.

When i use
Code:
mount -t smbfs -o username=user,password=secret //gandalf/install /mnt/gandalf
it works fine and I can read and write with it.

What I want is to have this install directory automatically mounted under /mnt/gandalf so i can do
Code:
ls /mnt/gandalf/install
.

So I read man pages of automount, autofs and auto.master and:
1. created the /mnt/gandalf directory
2. added this line to /etc/auto.master -> /mnt/gandalf /etc/auto.gandalf
3. created the /etc/auto.gandalf file containing the following line ->
Code:
install -fstype=smbfs,username=jeroen,password=secret ://gandalf/install
4. since the auto.master file was changed reloaded autofs -> /etc/init.d/autofs reload

But when I try to ls /mnt/gandalf I see nothing, nor when I ls /mnt/gandalf/install.

So I checked the /var/log/messages and found this entry:
automount[2783]: mount(generic): failed to mount (null) (type smbfs) on /mnt/gandalf/install

I undid (even rebooted) everything after I tested with the normal mount command.

What am I doing wrong here?
