X.org


Anybody knows anything about X.org in Debian ? Can't find an how-to or anything on the web besides packagers discussions ....

Well, X 4.4 isn't in Debian yet and that's where the X.org fork occurred ...

maintainers are in the process of porting and readying Xorg for Debian's compilation and distribution system. i would expect it soon. in the meantime, you could attempt to compile it from source on your own. i however would not recommend that unless you are quite comfortable with compiling from source on a regular basis. the x server is probably one of the most complicated codes that you could attempt to compile (it may come in second to the Linux kernel, but i don't think that there are any simple utilities to guide you thru the process). you could also check to see if there is an Xorg package in the "experimental" Debian package pool.
