which sarge architecture

I have an AMD-k6 334mhz proccessor i586 architecture.

Which debian sarge package do I download?

* Alpha
* ARM
* HP PA-RISC
* Intel x86
* Intel IA-64
* Motorola 680x0
* MIPS
* MIPS (DEC)
* PowerPC
* IBM S/390
* SPARC

That is a list.

I don't really understand which one I should get. Usually theirs an i586 option or something. Not here.

The closest would be in the intel x86, but i'm running an AMD-k6 334mhz i586 thing.

Which one should I go for?

You want the x86. The AMD-k6 is a 32-bit x86 device, the same as an Intel Pentium would be. There aren't any other options, as it's not a 64-bit device.

Unless you are running a server, you may want to consider downloading etch instead. the etch net-install CD Image is about 100MB the rest of the packages you need would be downloaded during install. Much more up to date than Sarge..

Yeah I'm running a server so I would use sarge.

I was pretty sure it was the intel x86.

Thanks a lot for your help

Even if you are running a server, you should use Etch unless you do not plan to install Xwindows. Etch will be the new Stable version within a month or so, and the update conversion to Xorg poses issues you'd probably like to avoid.

Alright. Now I'm having some more problems.

I burned the Debian Netinstallation to a disk and ran it on my computer.

An error says that something on cd failed or was corrupt. It said it may be the md5 sum not verified.

But the thing is.. the md5 sum was verified. The codes frikin matched. And it still says it's corrupt.

I have never ever had a problem burning iso's before. I use Magic Iso, and burn at the lowest speed 4x for everything.

It says cannot read data from cd rom. It may be due to an md5 sum error.

Sigh.. but it's not. Any insight?

Try burning it again..
Dodgy CDROM drive or RAM can cause that error during install as well.

You might try the businesscard image instead. There have been several different types of problems reported with the netinst image.

Yeah I installed a piece of ram a couple days before installation. Sigh.. money wasted.

The ram is probably it.
