Wheres my Debain menu?

I've got quite a new install of etch, netinstall of course, very basic system. I have xfce4.4(I think, seems like it to me) , but it doesn't seem to have the usually Debian menu any more. I'm missing having my new apts easy to find. Could someone show me how to get this set up
Cheers

Does this help? You might need the package menu from the repositories. Sorry, I don't have XFCE to try it out.

Make sure menu-xdg is installed and run update-menus

That works with Gnome.
